Apple WatchOS 7 Top Settings to Improve Your Watch Experience

Apple WatchOS 7

Thanks to the deployment of WatchOS 7, your Apple Watch is much more than a device that you put on your wrist to see what happens on your phone. In fact, these watches have new features like sleep monitoring and the ability to double as a walkie-talkie.

However, it can also be overwhelming trying to understand why the watch has so many apps installed or why Siri speaks to you when you least expect it.

So, in this article TechMag walk you through six simple changes that can improve your watch experience.

1. Adjust All Your Activity Goals

With the launch of WatchOS 7, Apple added the option to change your goals for the amount of time that you are idle or that you are exercising.

So instead of using the default measurements, you can change them to fit your routine.

To do this, go to the Activity app, scroll down, and tap Edit Goals. Make the necessary changes.

2. Goodbye to Random Screenshots

You can take a screenshot on your Apple WatchOS 7 by pressing the digital crown and the side button at the same time. It is a simple and convenient method unless you are like me who triggers this action by accident.

To disable the action of taking screenshots, go to the Settings app on your watch or the Watch app on your phone. Then go to General and scroll down where you will find Enable Screenshots (Activate screenshots). Turn it off.

3. Stop Apps That Install Automatically

Every time you install an app on your iPhone, it will automatically install a counterpart for the Apple Watch. This can clutter your watch, making it difficult to find the apps you really want.

Go to Settings, tap General, and then slide the switch to the off position in Automatic App Install.

If you want to install an app on your watch, open the Watch app on your phone, then scroll to the bottom where you will find a list of available apps.

4. Make It Easy to Find Apps

The layout of the apps on the clock, in the form of a grid, can make it difficult to find applications, especially when you have many installed. Instead of using the grid format, the clock can display apps in alphabetical order.

From the Watch app on your phone or in Settings on your watch, tap App View> List View.

5. Control When Siri Appears

There are three different ways to activate Siri on your Apple Watch. You can raise your wrist to your mouth and start speaking, long press on the digital crown, or say “Hey Siri.”

In my case, I very often activate Siri accidentally when I’m talking to someone. To prevent this from happening, do the following.

Either in the Watch app on your phone or in Settings on the watch, select Siri and you will find three buttons to control when you can invoke Siri. Slide each button to the off position.

6. Reorganize the Control Center

Just like the Control Center on your iPhone, the Control Center on the Apple Watch is where you can adjust things like airplane mode or turn on the flashlight.

However, the default list of options in the Control Center may not be the most suitable for you.

To access the Control Center on your phone, swipe up on the face of the watch, or if you are in an app you can make a long press on the bottom of the screen until you see the Control Center appear; then swipe up to access it.

You can change the order or hide some buttons in the Control Center by tapping the Edit button at the bottom of the list. The icons will start to shake and show a minus sign in red to hide the option. You can drag and drop the icons in the order you prefer, or tap the minus sign to remove the option.

Once you’re done, tap Done or tap the Digital Crown.
