Punjab Expands Electric Bus Service to 10 More Cities

Punjab’s eco-friendly public transport program is entering a major expansion phase, marking a significant step toward cleaner and smarter mobility across the province. Government officials have confirmed that preparations are complete to launch electric bus services in 10 more cities, with 200 brand-new electric buses already delivered to their destinations.

The Chief Minister of Punjab will officially inaugurate the expanded electric bus service on November 19, signaling the province’s strongest push yet toward sustainable transportation.

The new electric bus routes will roll out in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur, giving thousands of residents access to modern, affordable, and eco-friendly public transport.

According to the Transport Minister, electric buses are already operating successfully in Lahore and 10 other cities, collectively transporting nearly 120,000 passengers daily. The rapid adoption shows the growing public demand for clean and comfortable travel options.

Officials emphasized that this initiative aims to reduce air pollution, cut fuel costs, and improve urban mobility across Punjab. The government also plans to expand the electric bus network to even more cities in the next phase, making sustainable public transport accessible to a wider population.
