Metro Bus and Orange Line Train Services Suspended in Islamabad and Lahore

The district administration has announced the suspension of metro bus services across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, citing security concerns over potential protests in the twin cities. Officials stated that the decision was made as a proactive step to ensure public safety and prevent any disruption to daily life. Authorities emphasized that the temporary halt in operations aims to minimize risks and maintain order during a period of heightened alert.
According to Metro Bus officials, operations have been halted on the route connecting Saddar Station to the Pak Secretariat until further notice. The decision was made in compliance with directives issued by the district administration, following intelligence inputs warning of possible demonstrations that could disrupt public transportation and pose security risks.
Officials emphasized that the suspension is only temporary and assured commuters that services will resume as soon as the situation returns to normal. Meanwhile, Metro Bus staff and security personnel have been placed on alert, ready to act swiftly if required.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has announced the temporary suspension of the Orange Line Metro Train service in Lahore amid ongoing security concerns. Sources within the transport department confirmed that the decision was made as part of a wider precautionary strategy aimed at maintaining peace and stability across major urban areas.
Earlier in the day, several Orange Line stations were closed to the public, and police and security personnel were deployed at key points along the route to ensure law and order. Passengers have been advised to seek alternate modes of transportation until both metro and train services are cleared to resume normal operations
