The company will host the event online like so many other big tech companies. The coronavirus forces the suspension of another technological event: Microsoft Build 2020.
The Microsoft developer conference was planned to be held in Seattle on May 19 until May 21, but the company has canceled the event, confirmed by CNET and ZDNet. A Microsoft spokesperson told the media, “The safety of our community is a top priority. In light of the health safety recommendations for Washington state, we will turn our annual Microsoft Build developer event into a digital event, rather than of a face-to-face event. We hope to take advantage of this new virtual format to learn, connect and code together. ” The spokesman said he will give more details of the event soon.
Microsoft Build 2020 follows an already long list of technology events canceled by the coronavirus pandemic. The first technology event to be canceled for this reason was the MWC, followed by Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference, the Video Game Developers Congress (GDC), and the world’s leading video game fair, E3.
Google has also canceled its Google I / O conference that was scheduled to take place from May 12 to 14 and for now, it remains to be seen if Apple will finally hold its developer conference, the WWDC that is planned for June this year.
