Today, more than ever, being a successful business owner is about making sure that your company’s name, identity, brand, and even your online personal brand (if you want it to be part of the attraction of doing business with you) can be found in every corner and place on the internet.
A little over 3 years ago I launched this blog.
It was not my first tech blog, but it was my first real step towards personal branding. I knew and appreciated that a personal brand is something that is needed in today’s market, and I spent a little time building my brand online during the previous years, but I never really focused on building my own online brand.

Why is an online brand so important today?
It took me a while to realize this, but building my brand has turned out to be frankly the best commercial movement I have done in my entire career, and I don’t say it lightly, believe me.
In today’s business world, people want to do business with other people more than ever! That is why it is so important to focus on building a personal brand.
Because we trust the people we know. We trust the people we have relationships with and, above all, we like to do business with people we trust!
- The creation of an online personal brand creates awareness of what we, as entrepreneurs and our business represent.
- The creation of an online brand gives us instant opportunities to create sympathy and encourage the growth of a fan base.
- Building an online personal brand raises our credibility because we accept being “out there” for the world to find.
- The creation of an online brand allows us to gain confidence, the most important part of the “sales process”, which generates more potential customers, more customers and more profits!
Are you getting my point?
The time has come for each entrepreneur to take seriously the creation of an online personal brand (in case he is not already doing so) so that we can enjoy the benefits of all these points and more.
With this in mind, I will go into detail and give you the essential elements you need to start building your own online brand.
I’m going to focus on 10 steps and based on the main reasons I mentioned earlier, as the main factors to do it in the first place!
Brand Awareness Creation
Brand awareness is when people identify their brand as their own in different conditions; whether on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. The first step is to make your brand memorable, and a blog is a perfect vehicle to do so. So, let’s analyze that a bit.
1. Have a unique blog design:
The key to being memorable is to make a good first impression and have a unique blog design that can do exactly that. You have to think about a mix between great design and the ability to make your blog stand out from the rest. Although having a blog with a unique design is no more important than your brand’s message, it still plays an important visual role.
2. Get a suitable design logo
This one does not have to be too elegant – I mean, look at mine … But, having something that symbolizes the image of your brand will help to raise awareness and brand recognition.
3. Think about creating a slogan:
Currently, the slogan to start your startup is empowering your internal entrepreneur, but if you do not have one let me explain what it is: a slogan is a phrase that allows visitors to know exactly what you are when you visit your site.
This works best when the label line indicates a benefit. For example, my legend might say: “I will help you build a successful business around your personal brand!” If you already have a slogan, I’d love to hear it in the comments section below, along with a link to your site.
After making it easier for people to recognize your brand, you must work very hard so that they like it. The best way to do this in today’s market is by connecting with your audience on a personal level.
I don’t know about you, but I prefer to talk to a real person when I call a company than talk to a prerecorded message. As entrepreneurs of the new era, if we want to like them, we must be pleasant.
You should know that your audience WANTS to be able to connect with you on a more personal level, and when they can do so, they will be more likely to do business with you. Next, I will show you how you can continue developing your brand and, at the same time, create some sympathy.
4. Create an “About me” or “Start Here” page:
This page is the perfect place to talk a little about yourself so that your visitors can get to know you better. Ideally, you want to put your audience first here.
So try to focus on some benefits of why they should stay in place.
Note: Be sure not to miss the opportunity to turn the occasional visitor into an email subscriber and have a subscription offer somewhere on the page.

5. Add a ‘Like’ box on Facebook:
Giving people a way to connect with you through their Facebook page gives them the opportunity to communicate with you with a question or comments in an environment where they feel comfortable talking.
6. Add links to other channels of your social networks:
Don’t go crazy here, but remember that your brand continues to flourish on your main platform (i.e. your blog). Twitter and Facebook are my main social media channels of choice, but I also provide links to my LinkedIn profiles and Instagram, in case people like to communicate with me using these media.
7. Publish videos and podcasts online:
Steps 5, 6 and 7 are about being human. Here is a scenario that I think you will enjoy.
Imagine there are two business experts. Both have blogs and publish very good content. But “Expert A” also has a Facebook page, talks to you on Twitter and publishes video clips and podcast episodes regularly, while “Expert B” does not.
Which expert would you feel most comfortable calling and hiring?
If you selected “Expert A”, then get where I’m going with this. (Currently, this is a weak point of mine but it is something that like every business takes time and the important thing is to recognize where you are failing and make a plan to improve it)
Online videos and podcasts allow us to make very different personal connections with our audience of what is an article on the blog (normally people do not have time to read but to listen, for this reason, it is the importance)
Now that our sympathy is at its highest point, it is to take this to a higher level. It’s time to talk about trust and credibility!
Building the trust and credibility of your brand
Now, you could be the coolest person on the planet, but that doesn’t mean people are going to start throwing money at you or buying your products. Your audience needs to trust you, before I buy you something, as I said before, building trust is the most important part of the “sales process.”
The sad thing is that this is where most people get stuck because it is the part that requires more work.
Building trust in your brand is about adding value to your community in the form of high-quality content, extremely useful, consumable (and shareable!). Let’s see how you can use your platform (blog, YouTube channel, podcast) to build trust.
8. Create unique and compelling content:
Oddly enough, some of the most successful blog posts I’ve written have been very simple to put together.
I simply answer questions.
Provide solutions to problems, such as 10 reasons why people do not start their own businesses, or what mentality you should have to undertake. Creating this kind of attractive content should be the cornerstone of your online personal brand. If it helps people, it affects the change in their mentality and the way they behave in some way, it will quickly become the source of reference in their online niche.
9. Have a free single offer (Opt-In) :
While everything I’ve mentioned will help you increase the recognition and sympathy of your brand, content should always be your main focus. Without great content, nothing else matters. Your audience will begin to trust you (and your brand) when they see that you are willing to HELP THEM.
Having an incredibly valuable piece of content to give as an incentive to subscribe to your email list is one of the fastest ways to build trust. There are still people who use bad material in an attempt to subscribe via email. That is not only harmful to your brand but also destroys the relationship with your potential customer before it starts.
What I always suggest you do here is to create something that doesn’t have problems to put a price of at least $ 100. Then, pack it well and just give it away for free, well, almost free … you have to get that email address electronic!
10. Be yourself:
Being yourself is by far one of the most important parts of building your brand. No one can duplicate you! You are the only one, and you need to use that “advantage” to gain the trust, loyalty, and business of your potential customers.
Currently creating an online personal brand is very important and more if you create a personal brand that generates value to your target audience. Although my blog is aimed at people who want to earn extra money or want to undertake, also creating a brand being employed is valuable as you sell yourself and take advantage of the knowledge you have. If you have not yet begun to create your personal brand, I invite you to do it but always with a plan in mind and a goal for which you would stop doing any leisure activity by working on your dreams
