Can I work offline with documents in Drive?

You can access Drive and work offline without using a Chrome browser, and if you have another default Web browser, like Safari, you’ll need to change it to Chrome so it does not spoil things if you click something in Drive while offline. When you share a document, you can choose how much access you want the other person to have, allowing them to edit the document, view the document, or create comments in a sidebar around the document, and when you select a contact to share your document, E-mail address, then select Edit, View, or Comment.

You can also create a shareable link if you do not have a direct Google address for someone, so that person can go to the URL and sign in with their Google credentials.
