The Oppo R9s Plus is an XL version of the 5.5-inch R9s that takes advantage of its larger size to accommodate a more powerful battery and a 16-megapixel rear photo sensor with optical image stabilization.
All this looks promising, but it turns out that the Plus only widens the defects of the R9s, including its chamfered edges that make it uncomfortable to hold in hand.
Still, we really wanted to enjoy this 6 inch smartphone. However its design inspired by that of the iPhone but far from being so licked and successful as well as its tendency to strongly heat with video games are in our eyes two huge flaws. However, its 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization allows it to stand out slightly from the competition.
Like the R9s, autonomy seems to be the other strong point of this mobile. During our video playback loop test, the R9s Plus held 15h40mn which is very good but not as impressive as the 22 hours offered by the Galaxy A7 which bonus is cheaper.
Indeed, with a price that is close to $ 500, the R9s Plus is rather expensive for a mid-range smartphone. A rate that can be explained in particular by the aluminum chassis. Note that this model was not available in France at the time of writing these lines. It is also very unlikely that it will ever be distributed “officially” in our countries.
In the end, the OnePlus 3T surpasses the R9s Plus for both performance and value for money and is a smarter choice. And if by chance the OnePlus 3T does not suit you, there is the option ZenFone 3 which is also a safe bet.
